The area around the Cours Julien has been transformed into a hot spot of street art and graffiti in recent years – there is also an annual street art festival established in 2014. Rue Pastoret is one of many side streets of the Cours Julien (at the right edge of the image), now full of street art and little shops and cafés. We happily add the names and links for artists that were involved in the street art in our panorama above.
In fact, the Cours Julien was a major fruits and vegetables market till the late sixties. Then it was removed for traffic reasons and ever since the area underwent a rough transformation, surely one of the reasons for its development into an artists quarter.
