The Church (Église) of Saint-Nizier in Lyon (Wikipedia). It is situated on the small square Place Saint Nizier. On its right side we see the adjoing buildings along Rue de Brest. This is also part of the central Presqu’ile quarter which belongs to the UNESCO world heritage site of Lyon. The church is named after archbishop Nicetius of Lyon who lived here in the 6th century. The current building in gothic style was errected between the 14th and 16th century and bears a Renaissance style portal. The church repeatedly played a role in the social life of Lyon, for example in 1975, when a group of prostitutes occupied the building in protest.
