A panorama that starts on the left with the Augustusplatz and moves all the way to the Rossplatz, on the right, along the Leipziger Ring. The Leipziger Ring is the main street circling around the whole city centre. On the far left we see the main post office, built in the 1960s, followed by the big crossroads on the Augustusplatz with the Grimmaische Steinweg leaving the square in eastward direction. Right of the street the Raddisson Blu Hotel follows, a building which was recently renovated and was formerly the “Hotel Deutschland” and one of the first addresses for guests of the Leipzig Fairs in GDR times. The skyscraper in the middle, actually the second oldest of Leipzig, is the Europahaus, built in 1928/29. Right next to the Europahaus and set back from the street the ensemble of the Ringbebauung (Buildings on the Ring) starts, crosses the Goldschmidtstrasse and ends at the Rossplatz. This complex, built in 1955 in the socialistic classizism style, was a prestige project of the GDR.
There are more Leipzig streets we photographed in our archive, which you can find by yellow markers on our worldmap. In case you are interested in us creating a streetline montage for one of these streets please contact us.
