The complete east side of the Wroclaw Rynek/Great Ring (german: der Breslauer Große Ring), the main market square of the city. Historically it was called the Grüne-Röhr-Side and it runs from Nr. 29 to 41 (right to left). Opposite this side the main facade of the Wroclaw Town Hall occupies the central block on the Rynek. The street crossing the block in the middle is now called Kurzy Targ (once in german: Hintermarkt) and leads to the St Mary Magdalene Church. Several buildings on this side (as well as the complete square) are reconstructions of earlier facades created after world war II. Two pre-war Art Nouveau buildings are still existing on this side – the Warenhaus Gebrüder Barasch by Georg Schneider (hidden by the Warka ad) and further to the left (No. 39/40) the House Louis Levy by Leon Schlesinger. No. 41 at the left edge, the House Zum Goldenen Hund (engl. the Golden Dog), was the last reconstructed building on the square by the 1990s. The side is named after the Grüne-Röhr, a green fountain not existing any more.
