The eastside view of the complete Petersstrasse in central Leipzig. It leads from Leipzigs market square (on the left) to the promenade ring with its parks (on the right) from north to south. The street is named after the Peters Church (Peterskirche) which once stood on the far right predating the last building in this picture. Today the new Peters Church stands more to the south in the Südvorstadt. Also on the southern end of the street, which was part of the Via imperii, the Peters Gate (Peterstor) was once standing. Petersstrasse is one of the main business streets of Leipzig, housing commercial buildings as well as trade fair buildings (Messehäuser) for the Leipzig trade fair. Starting from the left we see the Messehaus am Markt, the Messehof (both of which have starting entrances for the Leipzig passageway system), the newly built Peek & Cloppenburg house, the Karstadt (with both old and new facade), Stenzlers Hof and as the last building the music school “Johann Sebastian Bach”. As you can see on the left it is christmas time during the shooting of this panorama. Currently the panorama image remains unfinnished, but work can be continued by request.
There are more Leipzig streets we photographed in our archive, which you can find by yellow markers on our worldmap. In case you are interested in us creating a streetline montage for one of these streets please contact us.
