The Opéra Municipal is the Opera House of the city of Marseille, located in the Rue Saint-Saens, two blocks southeast of the Vieux Port (old harbour). After the original Opera Marseille building burned down in 1919 a new building was errected, keeping the stone colonnade of the old one. It was opened in 1924 and designed by the architects Ebrard, Castel, and Raymond with Art Deco style elements. It seats 1.800.
