The Königsalle (“King’s Alley”), also just called the Kö, is regarded one of the prominent luxury shopping streets in germany, as well as europe. Here however, we see a section on the west side in the so called “quiet side” or “bank side” area between Girardetbrücke/Trinkausstrasse on the right and Benrather Strasse on the left. Here the Kö is not as busy and dominated by bank buildings. The modern building on the left is completely occupied by Commerzbank. The historical building on the right, the Girardet House built 1905-1909 in the style of Reform-Architecture, is still being used by a publsihing house as well as shops.
This Düsseldorf Streetline was presented in week 12 of our project 101 weeks 101 cities.
