This panorama depicts the Keizersgracht left and right of the Leidsestraat. It is the middle Gracht of the Grachtengordel with the Herengracht positioned inwards and the Prinsengracht situated outwards parallely. The Keizersgracht was built in 1612 and prolonged to its final length in 1658. It is named after the roman-german emperor Maximilian I. (1459-1519) and it is the widest of the central Grachts of Amsterdam. In typical Amsterdam style the Gracht is lined by patrician houses with its unique facade variety. Thanks to a very cold day in february the gracht in this panorama is completely frozen and right of the Leidsestraat ice skaters are dominating the view.
There are more Amsterdam streets we photographed in our archive, which you can find by yellow markers on our worldmap. In case you are interested in us creating a streetline montage for one of these streets please contact us.
