Kaufingerstrasse in Munich’s city centre between Augustinerstrasse (left) and Liebfrauenstrasse (right). Positioned centrally we see the headquarter of the fashion house Hirmer (formerly Bamberger & Herz) and right of it we see the iconic Frauenkirche church of Munich.
The representative Hirmer building on the left is also called House “Zum Schönen Turm” (“at the beautifull tower”) in regard to the so called “Schönen Turm”, which stood nearby in Munich’s medieval wall and was torn down in 1807. The figures on the facade were made by Julius Seidler.
The Frauenkirche (exactly “Dom zu unserer Lieben Frau”) is the seat of the arch bshop of Munich and Freising. It is one of the iconic buildings of the bavarian capital Munich and with a height of 98.50 metres one of the highest buildings in Munich.
