New buildings along El-Nasr Street in an area south of Hurghada International Airport. A new city district is emerging here and buildings are still under construction as can be seen in the image. We see finnished villas as well as open plots and construction sites. Villas in the first row might have an open view towards the Red Sea. This panorama shows a part of the documented section and could be prolonged on its right side.
Hurghada was founded in the early 20th century and remained a small fishing village well into the 1970s. Then the city developed into Egypt’s major tourist centre on the Red Sea, today has a population of more than 160.000 people and spreads over more than 30 kilometres along the sea. Hurghada mainly develops in southern direction so this area is situated about 20 km from the old town El-Dahar in the north, between the airport and further tourist ressorts in the south. El-Nasr Street is the main artery of the city and extends through the whole city from El-Dahar in the north, passing all the newer districts to the south.
