The coastline of historic Sarıyer along the Bosphorus. Sariyer is the northernmost district of the city of Istanbul and consists of several old villages and castles. The image shows the original Sariyer village as it looks today. Lying on the Bosphorus coast Sariyer became a residency for the wealthy from Istanbul like most Bosphorus villages and many Ottoman style villas were built in the area during the 18th and 19th century. We also see two mosques, the Yenimahalle Cami in the central valley to the left and the Havantepe Cami on the hill in the middle. The image is shot from roughly one viewpoint on the Bosphorus and is rather a classic panorama showing the cityscape of Sariyer than a streetline concentrating on the architecture along the shoreline.
