Fulham FC’s stadium is located directly on the River Thames, circa seven kilometres west of the Houses of Parliament in the Hammersmith and Fulham district on Stevenage Road. With its classic red, typically English brick façade, you only realize it is a stadium building at second glance. We can also see the eponymous cottage, now a VIP box, on the left-hand side of the panorama. The architecture was designed by the legendary Scottish stadium architect Archibald Leitch. He created a total of around 40 stadium buildings in Great Britain and Ireland, but there are only a few original structures from his time that have survived through all the contemporary stadium conversions and new buildings.
The local club FC Fulham is the oldest still active professional football club in London. However, the club has never won a national or international title. The greatest success at Craven Cottage was reaching the final of the Europa League in 2010. The stadium has hosted more than a dozen international matches over the decades, including the 1948 Olympic Football Tournament. Curiously, however, the Three Lions, the English national team, have never played here.Craven Cottage | Fulham FC Stadium
